CASUAL RELATIONS

If like Jon you don't strive to CARE about cinema like its your deformed BABY with Udo Kier's slimy face that you're determined to love ANYWAY then you probably didn't drop the name of Andrew Bujalski to get a seat (barely elbow room only) on a couch in Ray Carney's university office while he show this Mark Rappaport movie on 16mm projector behind a wall made of cardboard to hide it from everyone and say "You understand my point, right?" and then while it's clacking the reels he reads loud from his essay about the fight with Rappaport, maybe 600 pages, or 2.5 months' time, mostly the phrase "stupid as the 75-year-old widow of John Cassavetes" stuck with me but if you care about cinema as much as Carney and I do, then you stop hanging out with Jon sooner or later.
